Email form custom mailing option

Posted by amywe on October 29, 2008

The email form builder is not only an online tool for collecting data; it also consists of a data management tool in which you can handle the accumulated data. This data management tool is good for sorting the data, editing it, deleting the entries which are no longer needed, printing the forms, etc. It also enables you to send emails to the people who filled in you form – this is called “Custom Mailing”.

Let’s say your results table consists of your company’s clients (names, addresses, telephone numbers…).
This mailing option gives you a way to send them (or part of them) an email regarding common issues such as
Sending them all sales and discount information…

The use of this option is really simple. All you need to do in order to send an email to the people in your report is:
1- Open the “mail” option in the toolbox.
2- Turn on the checkbox of the relevant data entries (on the left column of the result table) – you will see all the addresses accumulated in the “mail” option’s “to” field.
Please notice that you may use a text editor to change the way your message looks by pressing on the “Edit Text” button. Pressing on the “Save” icon in the editor will save all the changes (styles applied and text changes) and return to the mail option in the toolbox.
3- Write the email subject and message and send the email.

Publishing an email form

Posted by amywe on October 28, 2008

Once an email form is created and if you intend on collecting data from people (and not fill in the data yourself)

you need to externalize it so people could enter the form and fill in data.

The publishing options in the form generator are six:

1- URL – this is the url of the form. Using this option requires to copy the code and paste it in a browser’s address line.
2- IFRAME – this option is intended for embedding a form in blogs.
3- LINK – this is the link for others to enter the form through. When using this option you can paste the link code in your html code or  send it to someone in an email.
4- SCRIPT – this option is intended for embedding a form in a website.
5- MAIL – an option in which you can send the link of a form in an email.
6- GOOGLE SITES – this is code suitable for those who wish to embed the form in “Google Sites”.

All you need to do is pick the publish option that is most suitable for you.

Online email form wedding invitation

Posted by amywe on October 27, 2008

My friend just got married. The mess of it all…invitations, dress, ring, flowers, catering, dj, photographer, hall…what not. I suggested she use an online email form to invite guests and track who ever is coming since she didn’t really have the time to find out herself. “good idea” she said, “but…I don’t know how to create such a thing. And I don’t have the time to learn and anyway, don’t you need to be a programmer for that?”

“no” I answered “you simply need to use a form builder, you don’t need any programming skills”.

After 5 minutes of explaining she calmed down. I took out my laptop, and logged in to my form maker. We started to drag and drop elements from the toolbar: a textbox to collect the person’s name, an email element to collect his/her email address, a checkbox to turn on if you plan to attend and a text area for comments.

The bride to be got so excited that she wanted to play with the web generator herself: started changing the text font and size, the color scheme and generally just moved everything around. She remembered that she had a nice picture of her and her boy friend in her mailbox…”do you think we can add the pic to the form?” she asked. “sure” I answered and dragged an image element on to the form’s design area.

From here to there a great looking form was created. We published it as an email and a link to the form was sent to all of her recipients.

The online invitation was a great success. People were calling to congratulate and say what a beautiful invitation it was and wanted to know how to create a similar form for a friend/relative.

creating an auto response for an email form

Posted by amywe on October 26, 2008

The email form sends the form owner an email once data is submitted in to the form, but what about the form filler? What happens if we want the form filler to get an auto response email once he fills in the form? Some kind of validation for his entered data, a message (like: we are out of the office, we will get in touch tomorrow) or even a simple thanks.

When using a form builder the email to the form owner is sent by default. In order to have the form filler get an auto response you will need to:

1-       have an “email element” in the form

2-

select the element and make sure that the “send copy” option is checked in its settings

The “send copy” option sends a carbon copy of the data entered in the form to the form filler. This email has a fixed format but you can add text to beginning of this layout by using the “email user message” or decide to customize the email altogether by using the “Custom User Email”.

In the “email user message” option only text may be inserted in to the existing email. There can be no alteration of style and the email format in this option.

In the

Custom User Email” option you can create your own responder from scratch. Writing the text, adding form variables (if you wish the email to show the form filler’s name or other fields that he filled in), and styling the form are all available in this option.

Customizing your email form

Posted by amywe on October 23, 2008

So you have an email form…ah? Well that’s great…but how about customizing it? Changing its rigid layout? Customizing the email sent to form fillers and mailing list recipients?

Defining the form’s expiration date? Redirecting the form once submitted? Adding a spam filter? This can all be done with an email form builder.

Fixed forms may always be purchased. Even when a programmer creates a form tailored especially for you, it is given to you without you being able to change anything about it and any alteration will cost you extra.

However, when you create a form yourself, using a form builder, you can always change it. Add elements, images, move the fields around, change their background color and font colors etc. and no- you do not need any programming skills to do this. An email form maker enables you to easily create your form, and once it is done you can always make alterations and customize it.

Changing the format of the email sent to form fillers, for example, is really simple.
The default format of the email sent consists of the fields list and the data entered in them. All you need to do in order to accomplish this is:

1-       enter the form

2-       go to the form settings on the right

3-       press on the “…” button of the “custom user email” option.

4-       Write the text you want to appear in the email

5-       You can style this text using the “edit text” button

6-       You can add form variables to this text by choosing the field variable from the list and pressing on the “add variable” button.

7-       Press on “save”

8-       Save the form

Sounds pretty easy? That’s because it is!

How to embed an email form in your website or blog

Posted by amywe on October 19, 2008

If you want to create an email form and have people fill it in you can present them with the form in several ways:

You can plant the url/link to the form in your webpage, send the url/link to the form in an email or simply embed the email form.

Embedding a form means planting it in a webpage in such a way that it looks like an integral part of the page. In order to make it an integral part one can control the look of the form: the background color, image, fonts used and so on.

Using a form generator for such a purpose is the ideal solution: it provides a customable and easy form creation process as well as a quick copy & paste embedding method. Not to mention the included data management tools, customable emails, minimum cost and so forth.

When using a form builder all you need to do in order to embed a form in your website/blog is:

1)     Make sure your form is saved, and marked as “public” in the “Form Settings”.

4)        copy the entire text and pasting it in your webpage code

Form builder for flexible design of an email form

Posted by amywe on October 16, 2008

There are several web form builders out there, some are user friendly and some are not. The form builder provides a non skilled user with the ability to create forms even when he has no technical background. This is a great solution for those who do not have any knowledge in programming, for designers who wish to focus on the visual and for all those who do not want to be bothered with the form creation process.
The form maker should provide a simple and easy to use solution for all these users in terms of form creation and design.
Well…it seems that creating web forms may be easy enough but designing the form is a totally different story. All form builders are rigid in their layout – All but one.

A rigid design means that you cannot place element wherever you like on the form, but rather choose the elements and they are placed for you in the order of their choosing and in a fixed layout.

The FormLogix email form builder is the only web form builder our there which enables the flexible design of forms. In this WYSIWYG form creator a user can simply drag & drop elements and place them wherever

He wants on the form (even on top of one another).

The efficiency of an email form

Posted by amywe on October 15, 2008

An email form is a very useful tool nowadays. When you embed an email form in your website/ blog/ google site all the data entered is automatically sent to you once the form is submitted.

Well…that we already know about an email form, but this kind of form could also provide other solutions for communication for those who use forms:

1)       Carbon Copy – one can send a copy of the data to the form filler.
The idea behind this option is based on the need of people who fill in a form to get some sort of confirmation
for their submission. Also in many cases a receipt is needed to be sent to a form filler containing the items he has ordered. A message can also be attached to this data making the email more personalized.

2)       Mailing List – an option for sending a copy of the data entered to a list of recipients.
In some cases the form owner needs to notify certain people of each data entry he gets, in these cases the use of a mailing list option makes life easier and automatically send a copy to these addresses.

how to create a contact form

Posted by amywe on October 7, 2008

A Contact form is the most common website form and though it will mostly evolve programming or the hiring of a  programmer in order to add such a form to your website, there is a more economical and simple solution especially for those who have no programming skills.

By using a WYSIWYG email form builder an inexperienced user can create the most beautiful forms to suit his/her needs.

A contact form usually consists of the following fields:

First name, last name, company, title, contact purpose, telephone number, email address and of course the message. One may add or subtract fields at any time, the important thing is to make the fields you need the most mandatory (so you will not end up with a message that does not contain the person’s email/phone number to get in touch with…).

Steps for creating such a form using a form builder are:

1-     enter the form builder designer
2-     drag the elements on to the design area.

use the “label” element for the texts which sit next to each element.

3-     Change the label text so the form filler will understand what field he/she is looking at

4-     Change the caption of the element. This is the name of the element in the form and this name will later appear in the emails, data management report etc.

5-

Do so with all elements
change text/caption in all elements

6-

Align the elements and labels and widen the “textarea” element so it will present more text. You may
also  play with the other lement’s width/hight.

7-     Change the form’s background color using the color list above.
